Marine window tint installation is a project typically done by professionals. With its many benefits, one drawback to marine window tinting is the initial investment you have to spend. However, if you are short on funds, then you can always opt to do the tinting by yourself.

Window tinting for boats is not that simple, though. You need to have basic film tinting knowledge to avoid unnecessary revisions.

Below are seven easy steps to follow to install window tint like a pro.

Measure the windows. Cut the boat window tint leaving at least one or two inches of extra film. This extra film will be removed later.

Prepare a cleaning solution made of shampoo and water. Wash the windows meticulously. You will also use this solution to mount the film later. Windows should be spotless before film installation.

Check for unwanted residues that might affect the boat window tinting process. Use a sharp razor blade to carefully detach solid granules. Be careful not to scratch the glass. Wipe it down with a clean, soft cloth afterward.

Pass a squeegee over the glass to make sure no traces of deposits are left. Do it from top to bottom, and let gravity help you.

Spray the window with the cleaning solution. Peel off the film liner to expose the adhesive, and spray on it as well. Position the marine solar film over the glass, making sure that the area you want coated is covered. Cut the excess film to take the shape of the window.

Use the squeegee to press out the liquid. Begin at the center and work your way out to the sides.

Take your time in this step. Once you have taken out all of the liquid, the marine window tint will start to stick. It will be messy and more costly to peel it off and start again.

Use the squeegee again to flatten the tint. Ensure that no air bubbles are left. Flatten the edges as well.

Blow-dry the film while passing the squeegee. Pass it sideways, working horizontally. This will help tighten the boat tint to the glass window.

When you are precise and attentive to each step to ensure a satisfying outcome, it is possible to install marine window tint on your own.
